Choctaw Child Development Center

The child development center in Durant, OK, was built for the children of the employees of the Choctaw Nation. We completed this project in September 2021, and it is incredible. There are two playground areas; one for the younger children ages 6 mo-2 years, and the other one is for children ages 3-5. There is a total of 18000SF of play space. The surfacing is synthetic turf with berms and bowls, and it is almost entirely covered with shade. We worked closely with the landscape architect, Carter Design Group, as well as the construction managers, Manhattan Construction Company. Albert Tipton of Carter Design Group was the LA, and I admire his thorough understanding of how cooperative play enriches the lives

Department of Human Services

The Department of Human Services here in Tulsa moved their headquarters to a new location, and wanted a small playground installed for the families that visit. The building had the perfect set up; there was an existing patio, enclosed with wrought iron fencing, and this is where we installed the new structure. The playground unit we chose packs a lot of “punch” given the size of it, and the poured in place surfacing adds the finishing touch. This was completed in July 2021.

Deer Creek

This playground, completed in the summer of 2020, is the largest project to date for the Happy Team. With 43000 SF of play space, this state-of-the-art inclusive play space offers a multitude of options for all children, and beautiful poured in place surfacing.

We worked closely with MA+ Architecture to ensure the design and colors complimented the architecture of the building. CMS Willowbrook were the construction managers, and what a pleasure it was to work with them! For a million dollar plus playground, this project proved to be virtually problem free, thanks to the team we have in place.

Rosewood Elementary

Completed in the summer of 2020, this project was a nail-biter for a variety of reasons. First, due to construction issues beyond our control, we couldn’t get started when initially scheduled. Secondly, the month of July and August is always hot in Oklahoma, but the location of this playground was situated in a corner, behind a building that cut off any breeze whatsoever, but it didn’t cut out the sun! Given the fact that we were working extra long hours on this project to ensure a timely completion, we decided to work nights. We rented lights, and the crew began working at 6:00PM, and quit at 6:00am. This proved to be a much more productive work environment. The third issue we had involved the installation of the wood mulch. Because the playground was flanked by a beautiful new basketball court, semi-trucks could not cross over it, lest we pay for a new basketball court! So, we hired a company to “sling” the mulch inside the play areas. This was the first time I have ever had to do this, and it was quite interesting to watch. The good news is that we finished on time, and the kiddos had a beautiful and fun new playground. Then I took a well-needed vacation!
